Fragile Identity

  • by

This week, on Thursday, I was 2 minutes late for the YSS offline group meditation session. We began with a body relaxation technique followed by a breathing technique, bhajan, meditation, affirmation, and prayers for everyone.

Last week, I was in Himachal Pradesh, so I couldn’t attend.

The Mumbai YSS centre I go to is a private apartment owned by someone devoted to Guriji (Shri Paramhansa Yogananda). They have willingly converted it into a YSS (Yogoda Satsanga Society) centre.

I can feel the difference when I attend YSS offline group meditation. For more than a month now, I have been attending these sessions, and it uplifts my energy. We do it every Thursday for 3 hours.

“Is there any place where I can attend such group meditations daily?” I asked one of the senior persons present in the hall.

“You can go to the YSS Wadala main centre,” he replied.

“That is far from my place,” I said.

“Then wait until November. The owner of this centre will be back in November. Right now, they are in Palampur, Himachal Pradesh. They go there for 3-4 months every year. They are planning to convert their Palampur property into a YSS centre. Once the couple returns to Mumbai, they will do their own daily meditation here, and you can join them,” he continued.

“I was in Himachal Pradesh last week. I remember, while going from Bir to Mcleodganj, I crossed Palampur. If I had known they were in Palampur, I would have visited their place,” I said.

“Yes, they likely would have invited you to stay at their place,” he said.

I will patiently wait until they return. It’s worth waiting for people who intend to create something beyond just fragile things, something more substantial and meaningful.

It’s helpful to surround yourself with like-minded people whose goals align with yours.

I genuinely respect people who stay true to themselves, who have no outer packaging / filters / masks.

Say, if I create my identity solely on how I look..my hair, skin, skin color etc..I will attract people who are only interested in my looks.

These people easily get distracted by the next pretty face, and then another one, and another one.

… so the truth is when someone creates identity based only on his/her appearance ..its very fragile.

….people who create identity based on very fragile things..they end up as a lonely person.

Paramhansa Yogananda ji has stated, do not get caught up in mental help related cycles, rise above it.

Direct your attention towards God who is purest form of love.

Instead of chasing something  fragile, chase the supreme form who created all of this.

As I am changing, many things around me are changing. All people who have contributed to direct me towards my Guru, thank you.

Its 12.44 pm, Friday in India. I had some free time so decided to write this post early.

Now time is over. I got to go.
